The Best thing about the future is that it comes one day at a time.- Abraham Lincoln
When times are good we want to pause those moments and relish in it in slow mode. Like watching our children as they grow. When times are bad we want to fast forward time so the pain and suffering ends & we can focus on the better things in life. When times are uncertain (not bad or good), that's the time to reflect, pause and appreciate the gift of time. Know that every choice you make is a blessing and a doorway for your mind to create. Our children are the passengers in our life. Make it a great ride, take it slow, enjoy the journey, see what they see, point out the things they don't, take the turns with grace, smooth over the bumps, laugh at the unexpected ,honor & respect their machine and teach them how to drive on their own each day.
Once you genuinely practice equanimity in your life where you have comfort pausing in moments of thought, reflecting in moments of decision and owning moments of intention which leads towards a reaction of processed thought, that is when the practice of gratitude initiates.
Our focus becomes pure and unwavering, focused and passionate. We are able to find the beauty in the world around us. The dull becomes bright, the dim becomes light, the struggles become welcome, the growth becomes limitless, the journey becomes profoundly filled with epiphanies and joy. It is from there we create a life most can only dream of. Here's a little read about gratitude. Yet another thing WE CAN control in our life. Aka the cool aid! http://zenhabits.net/why-living-a-life-of-gratitude-can-make-you-happy/ In stride, Adele Arkin www.LIfitMoms.com 347-693-3399 Too often we as mothers become unbalanced and giving of ourselves beyond the empty line. A car running on fumes not only can't run but also can cause the operating system damage. Don't wait until you're up against that empty line. Recharge yourself daily with little nuggets and inspiration that can help you refuel yourself.
We may not always be able to go for a run or bang out a workout every single day, but we can certainly find moments in them to give back to ourselves. Here are 5 tips: 1- Follow people on twitter that inspire you and wake up to find their messages planting a morning seed. 2-Download a book that may not be read cover to cover in one moment, but one that will give you ways to stop and reflect after a chapter. 3-Keep a gratitude journal. I like to use an app on my phone since I'm more of a techie. 4-Print out inspiring quotes and keep them on your fridge as simple reminders to read one a day. 5-Find comfort in discomfort. So when you find yourself doing something that tests your patience, try to define it differently. For example, when I'm pumping gas (yes, it is just never fast enough for me), I say this is "gas pumping meditation". On a long line "on line meditation". In traffic, "sitting in traffic meditation".
